Acupuncture can be both a preventative and corrective therapy for athletes seeking to improve performance and reduce injury. When using acupuncture for sport medicine, it can help to manage pain, promote healing, and improve overall athletic performance.
Acupuncture can be useful in managing both chronic and acute injuries, and has been shown to increase blood flow to injured areas, helping to reduce inflammation and swelling, and promote the delivery of nutrients and oxygen to injured tissue. The tiny needles used in acupuncture stimulate the release of endorphins, providing natural pain relief without the side effects pharmaceutical pain medications. This ability to reduce pain without the use of medications, some of which can be extremely addictive, is one of our athletes’ primary reasons for seeking acupuncture for pain management.
Many of our athletes find that acupuncture is also an emotional endurance tool, useful in helping to regulate sport-related emotional distress signals and manage anxiety. It is common for athletes to experience some form of cognitive stress, which, left unchecked, can impact both quality of life and sport performance. Acupuncture can promote mental clarity, emotional endurance relaxation while reducing feelings of stress and anxiety.

Using Acupuncture for Golf Injuries
In Our Athletes’ Own Words
I cannot express how happy I am that I found Dynamic Flow Acupuncture. I truly thought I was going to have to stop golfing all together because my body just seemed to be falling apart. Both my knees have been touchy for the last couple of years but this Spring they basically refused to cooperate. My knees hurt with every step both on and off of the course, even getting in and out of the cart was horrible. My doctor said it was arthritis and it would keep getting worse until I finally accepted that both knees would need replaced. A friend suggested that maybe acupuncture would help with the pain so I went in for a consultation with Sarah. She set up a schedule and we started treatment that day. After just a couple of weeks of treatment I noticed getting in and out of the car was no longer painful and general walking was manageable. After a few more treatments I decided to really put it to the test and went to the golf course. I could not get over how much better I felt playing. I made it though 9 holes with only a little bit of pain, that hadn’t happened in years. I kept seeing improvements throughout my treatments. Now I can play a full round of golf and still be able to move that evening.

I have been golfing for years, but this summer I started finding it hard to make it through a whole round without being in incredible pain. My shoulder would start hurting after just a couple of swings and my back started killing me after about 5 holes. I found Dynamic Flow Acupuncture and decided to see if they could help. I’m so glad I did! After just a few weeks of treatments from Sarah I was able to play with way less pain. Once we finished the full course of treatments I was able to play a full round on both Saturday and Sunday and still be pain free. I’ve continued to do a couple of maintenance treatments a month and have been able to play as much as my schedule will let me. If you want to keep playing without pain I highly recommend reaching out to them.” – LP
